The Fraud department of UK Betting Exchange Betfair had flagged another tennis match due to betting irregularities reports the Daily Telegraph. Betfair who has been working with the World Tennis Association since 2005 contacted the WTA when they noticed odd betting patterns during the match.
The match in question took place in a tournament in Kolkata, played by Tatiana Poutchek and Mariya Koryttseva. Koryttseva won the match 6-4, 6-2. The fraud department at Betfair contacted the WTA to inform them that they were delaying payouts as they investigate what seemed to be odd betting patterns during the match.Andrew Walker of the WTA, told the Daily Telegraph that they are. "Investigating this situation", but at this time they had no indication of any wrongdoing by the players in question.
Betfair director of communication Mark Davies said. "We need to be certain that the markets are clean, so We delayed settlement. We then settled as normal. We wanted to check that we were happy, and in the end we were."
